President's Office

Message from the President

Ieehwan Kim

UST is devoted to
nurturing future leaders of S&T
who will open the door for better future.

Ieehwan Kim President of UST
Constant Change and Innovation

The motivation to take off the journey of UST was change and innovation.

In October 2003, UST was born in order to nurture creative and talented professionals who can lead future S&T innovation beyond the world as we know it. Our future and hope are the outstanding individuals. We must nurture talented individuals who have big dreams for humanity and the world. They not only have to have specialized knowledge, but they must grow to be rational thinkers who can lead the future and the world with knowledge of and competence in dealing with human nature, healthy values, and clear vision. UST has been evolving as the only GFRI based university in Korea thanks to the dedicated efforts of all of its faculty members, students, and staff.

Based on UST’s achievements thus far, as the president of UST, I will take pride putting in my best efforts to cultivating the talents of the future through providing innovative and flexible education and academic affairs management while leading the next big leap of UST.

The new leap will be heading at the three main agenda.

The first is “people-focused.” The ultimate value UST pursues is bringing betterment of the people.
The second is “onsite-focused.” We will develop our capacity to deliver the technological innovations that are needed at sites of industry and research.
The third is “demand-focused.” Who are our clients? We will always keep them in mind and work to meet their demands.

Even with the short history, UST has abundance of innovative, challenging, and wise experiences. In the years to come, I will devote myself in making UST a place where global talents gather to learn and bring changes and innovation. I am confident that they will be the ones opening the door for the future where betterment of the people has come true.

Thank you.

Ieehwan Kim
