UST Curriculum

UST provides departmentalized and specialized curriculum in various fields such as theory, research, seminar.

Common Core courses

Common Core courses Common education for the purpose of essential capacity building Designated Periodbefore the semester begins 1 ~ 2 Percentage

Allowed to take Common Core courses after completion upon receiving approval from their academic advisor.
(Although grades for courses taken after completion of the program are included in the student's transcript, they are not reflected in the GPA for the purposes of program completion.)

Major Courses

Major Courses Lectures on major-specific subjects Designated Periodbefore the semester begins 3 Percentage
  • More than 12 credits in master's or doctoral programs and more than 24 credits in the integrative program must be completed.
  • Allowed to take major courses after completion upon receiving approval from their academic advisor.

    (Although grades for courses taken after completion of the program are included in the student's transcript, they are not reflected in the GPA for the purposes of program completion.)

Field Research

Field Research Research-focused courses consisting of theory, experiments, and practice related to the student's research project. Field research report 4 Percentage
  • Principle of taking one field research opened by advisory professor every semester, and student can take field research opened by other professors with the approval of advisory professor.
  • Field research course taken each semester after program completion.

    ※ Required for incoming students in the fall 2021 semester and onward.

    ※ Optional for students who enrolled before spring 2021 semester

  • Grants 'F' credit when field research report is not registered within the designated period.
  • Although grades for courses taken after completion of the program are included in the student’s transcript, they are not reflected in the GPA for the purposes of program completion.

Seminar

Seminar - Subject, Brief exploration of courses, Credits, Grading

Seminar Presentation and discussion by students on research achievements 2 S/U
  • A representative professor or a chief major professor(or a professor in charge of a major concentration), opens a seminar course to guide students. If necessary, another professor can be designated to run the seminar course.
  • More than 2 credits in a master's or doctoral program and more than 4 credits in the integrative program must be completed.
  • Recommended to take seminar courses after completing two semesters.
  • Allowed to take seminar courses after completion upon receiving approval from their academic advisor.
