Introduction
Korea Basic Science Institute (KBSI) is moving forward as an open world-class basic research infrastructure institution that provides analysis support services and collaborative research for creative basic science. In the 21st century, science and technology competitiveness are important criteria for driving national competitiveness. In order to have them, it is essential to create excellent research results and source technology development and basic research and establishment of research infrastructure should be supported for achieving them. KBSI has a role and responsibility as a national research center for conducting research and development, research support and joint research, related to high-tech research equipment as well as advanced analytical science technology. KBSI become a leading research institute recognized not only in Korea but also in the world for basic science such as BT, NT, ET and IT with world-class national research equipments such as high voltage electron microscope, next generation high-field nuclear magnetic resonance, high sensitive high resolution Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) mass spectrometer, high resolution secondary ion mass spectrometer (HR-SIMS).
