The Precision Measurement Major consists of two concentrations, Measurement Science, and Measurement Engineering. The Measurement Science is a field of science and deals with measurement principles and standards. The Measurement Engineering is an engineering field that deals with measurement sensors and systems. The major covers a wide range of fields, including length, time, luminous intensity, electromagnetic waves, space optics, atmospheric environment, ultrasound, radiation, food and bioanalysis.
The Measurement Engineering is a field of engineering, and aims to research and develop technologies and expertise on measurement sensors and measurement system for advanced industries. The research fields contains various sensors (three-dimensional shape, thickness, etc.), optics for space technology, and non-destructive inspection.
The Measurement Science is a field of science, and aims at training multidisciplinary measurement experts that comprise physics, chemistry, and biology through the development of the highest measurement technology based on basic SI units and derived units.
